Best recruitment software in Australia for 2026: HR platforms, hiring software and AI interviews compared
Updated September 2026
Australian employers shortlist the same handful of names: JobAdder, PageUp, Employment Hero, Scout Talent and Workday. They are not the same kind of product. One is built for recruitment agencies, one is an enterprise talent suite, one is an HR and payroll platform with hiring attached, and one is a global HR system. Reviews rarely say which is which.
Our recommendation for care, health and any role that draws a lot of applicants is Ployo. Ployo is recruitment software with a built-in applicant tracking system and an AI video interviewer that interviews every applicant the day they apply. We build it, so weigh that, and every other vendor fact on this page comes from that vendor's own site, checked on 10 September 2026 and listed at the bottom.
What is the best recruitment software in Australia in 2026?
It depends on who is hiring and what slows them down. Wherever the problem is too many applicants and not enough hours to speak to them, it is Ployo, at any volume from a single site to an enterprise group. Ployo is an applicant tracking system in its own right, and the interview happens inside it rather than being left to a recruiter with a phone. Care, health and frontline roles are where it is strongest, because that is where applicant volume and must-haves collide hardest.
For the rest of the market, the honest answer is a fit rather than a winner. The table gives the one-line answer for each buyer type: who the vendor suits, how it screens candidates, and whether it publishes a price before a sales call.
| Vendor | Best for | How it screens | Price public? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ployo | High-volume hiring | An applicant tracking system with a live, two-way AI video interview built in. Every applicant is interviewed the day they apply, at any volume from a single site to an enterprise group, with Met or Not Met per must-have and the candidate's words quoted. Strongest in care, health and frontline roles. | Yes, from US$249 a month with interviews included |
| JobAdder | Agencies | Applicant tracking and CRM. Adder Intelligence summarises each candidate and gives a relevancy rating. | No, a proposal |
| Employment Hero | HR and payroll | Its Recruitment Agent sends candidates a video interview to complete on their own time, with smart follow-up questions. | Yes, Pro plans from $199, conditions apply |
| PageUp | Enterprise suite | Full talent suite with Paige, which it calls an agentic hiring assistant that shows its work. | No, a demo |
| Scout Talent | Ads and onboarding | ATS plus recruitment services. Felix writes job ads and screens resumes. | US site only, from $150 a month |
| Workday | Global HR suite | HiredScore AI ranks the written application; a Paradox agent handles candidate conversations. | No |
Is HR recruitment software the same as hiring software?
Mostly yes, and the words are chosen by whoever is selling. HR recruitment software usually means an HR and payroll platform with a hiring module attached, so hiring sits beside leave, contracts and pay. Hiring software and software for recruitment describe the same job from the hiring team's side: advertise the role, collect the applications, decide who to talk to. Online recruitment software just means it runs in a browser, which every product on this page does.
So the label tells you almost nothing. What separates these products is the stretch between applied and shortlisted. An HR suite files the applicant and leaves that conversation to a person. Ployo is recruitment software with a built-in applicant tracking system, and Sarah, Ployo's AI interviewer, holds that conversation on video with every applicant the day they apply.
One more label worth translating: an applicant tracking system is the database and the pipeline, while an AI interview tool is the part that talks to candidates. Ployo is both, which is why there is nothing to stitch together. The AI recruitment tool page shows the workflow end to end, and what recruitment software costs covers the money.
Best recruitment software by sector in Australia
The shortlist changes with the roles you hire for, because the must-haves change. A residential aged care provider is checking a Certificate III and worker screening on hundreds of applicants; a medical practice is hiring two receptionists a year. These roundups take the same approach as this page, vendor by vendor, for one sector at a time.
Best ATS for aged care providers, and the same question asked of screening in AI screening software for aged care.
Video interview software for healthcare, and on price, the best value recruitment software for Australian healthcare.
Hiring one senior clinician rather than a queue of applicants is a different job again: clinical leadership recruitment sets out when a panel beats any screening tool.
What do Australian recruitment software reviews miss?
Most Australian recruitment software reviews rate the same things: how easy the dashboard is, how good support is, how many job boards it posts to. Those matter. They are also the parts every mature product does well.
What reviews rarely test is the stretch between "applied" and "shortlisted", which is where the hours go. In most systems that stretch is still a person reading CVs and ringing candidates. Ask any vendor on this page to show you one real candidate record at the shortlist stage and ask what put them there. If the answer is a keyword match on a CV, a recruiter still has the job.
You can do the same test on Ployo without talking to anyone: a real interview and the verdict it produced is open, no form.
Is there Australian recruitment software built for healthcare?
Several vendors sell into Australian healthcare, and their own sites say so. PageUp lists healthcare among the industries it serves, and Employment Hero lists healthcare among the industries its hiring product covers.
What is rarer is software built around the step that makes healthcare hiring slow. Care and health roles carry must-haves a CV rarely proves: a registration, shift availability, a driver's licence, hands-on personal care or dementia experience. Those are checked in a conversation, and that conversation is usually a recruiter's phone queue.
Ployo was built around that step. Every applicant is asked the role's must-have questions on video by Sarah, Ployo's AI interviewer, and each answer lands on the candidate's record as a verbatim quote with a Met or Not Met verdict. Ployo is not care-only, and the same pipeline runs retail, hospitality and contact centre hiring, but care and health is where applicant volume and must-haves collide hardest. The healthcare applicant tracking system page shows the full pipeline.
Which Australian AI hiring startups should I look at?
"Startup" is loose, so here is who puts AI into the hiring step itself and has a checkable Australian footprint, from newest thinking to most established.
Ployo. A live, two-way AI video interview with every applicant, inside its own applicant tracking system. 30,000+ completed AI interviews in 23 languages (Ployo platform data).
Employment Hero. Not a startup, but its AI Recruitment Agent is new. Its own page says the agent "conducts first-round interviews" through "asynchronous video interviewing" with "smart follow-up questions".
JobAdder. Sydney HQ. Its AI layer, Adder Intelligence, shortlists candidates with an instant summary and a relevancy rating.
Scout Talent. Its AI assistant Felix writes job ads and screens resumes inside the platform.
PageUp. Started in Australia in 1997 and now sells Paige, which it describes as an "agentic hiring assistant that shows its work".
Why is Ployo our pick for care, health and high-volume hiring?
Because it removes the queue rather than organising it. A candidate applies through a job link, or you upload CVs in bulk or pull them from a Gmail inbox, including LinkedIn Easy Apply emails. Each CV is checked against the role's must-haves and good-to-haves, with the line from the CV behind each one. The candidate is invited straight away and books a slot or starts now, on any device, at any hour.
Sarah then runs a live, two-way video interview and asks follow-ups on what the candidate actually said. The verdict is Met or Not Met on the must-haves only, with the quote behind each requirement, and good-to-have misses show as red flags. Your team moves people through Pending, Shortlisted, On hold, Rejected, Invited for AI interview, Shortlisted for human interview and Hired, one at a time or in bulk, with undo. Automation only moves candidates forward. Ployo never auto-rejects anyone.
It costs US$249 a month for 60 interviews on Essential, $850 for 250 on Growth and $2,135 for 800 on Scale, with Group priced for multi-site providers. Interviews are included and there is no per-seat charge. The pricing page has the detail, and what recruitment software costs compares it with the rest of the market.
What does Ployo not do?
Ployo does not post jobs to boards, host a careers site, send offer letters, run onboarding, send SMS, sync calendars or book human panel interviews. It does not verify AHPRA registration, police checks, NDIS worker screening or visas against the issuing body: it asks the candidate and records the answer, and confirming it stays your job.
Buying is not self-serve either. Every plan starts with a call to the founder, and prices are in US dollars, so an Australian buyer carries the exchange rate. If you need job-board posting and onboarding in the same system, JobAdder, PageUp, Scout Talent and Employment Hero all put those on their own sites, and Ployo can sit in front of them for the screening step.
How do you choose between them?
Start with the job you need done, then check the price model, then book the demo.
You are a recruitment agency. JobAdder is built for you, down to its headline: "The intelligent recruitment platform for growing agencies".
You are a large employer that wants one talent suite. PageUp covers recruitment marketing, applicant tracking, onboarding, performance, learning and succession. If you already run Workday for HR, its recruiting module is the obvious first look.
You are a small or mid-sized business that wants HR, payroll and hiring together. Employment Hero sells exactly that, and its hiring page offers access to a pool of "2.3M+ pre-vetted, work-ready candidates".
You want software plus people to run campaigns. Scout Talent sells both, including volume hiring and RPO services.
You hire 500 or more people a year across many sites. Ask every vendor for the price at that volume, not the headline plan, and ask what the first interview actually is.
You hire care, health or frontline roles at volume and need to hear every applicant. Ployo interviews each one on video the day they apply and gives your team the evidence to decide.

The seven platforms, one by one
Ployo
ATS with live AI video interviews- Who it is for
- Care, health and high-volume employers, in Australia and elsewhere, whose applicants outnumber the hours available to speak to them.
- What it does
- Tracks every applicant from job link to hire and interviews each one on live, two-way video with Sarah, Ployo's AI interviewer, in 23 languages. Returns a Met or Not Met verdict on the must-haves with the verbatim quote behind each one, plus the recording and transcript.
- Pricing
- Published: US$249, $850 and $2,135 a month for 60, 250 and 800 interviews, Group custom. Interviews included, no per-seat charge.
- One real limitation
- No job-board posting, careers site, onboarding, SMS or calendar sync, prices are in US dollars, and buying starts with a demo rather than a self-serve signup.
Judge the interview before you judge the pitch: a real Ployo interview is open to read, no signup.
JobAdder
Agency recruitment platform- Who it is for
- Recruitment agencies first, per its own headline, with a Business plan for in-house talent teams.
- What it does
- Candidate and job management with Adder Intelligence, its AI, which shortlists with an instant summary and a relevancy rating and drafts client-ready overviews. Its site says it connects to more than 200 job boards and posts one ad to several at once.
- Pricing
- Not published. Plans are banded by users (Lite for 1 to 5, Essential for 6 to 20, Pro for 21 and up, Business for in-house) and priced by tailored proposal.
- One real limitation
- The product and the pricing are shaped around agencies. An in-house care provider is on the Business plan, which is priced by proposal.
HQ in Sydney. If you run an agency, it is the platform built with your workflow in mind. LiveHire is the other Australian name shortlisted at this stage: LiveHire alternatives covers where it sits now.
PageUp
Enterprise talent suite- Who it is for
- Enterprise and mid-market employers, with healthcare, government, higher education, retail, and mining and construction named on its site.
- What it does
- Recruitment marketing (Clinch), applicant tracking, onboarding, analytics, performance, learning and succession, plus Paige, an agentic AI hiring assistant.
- Pricing
- Not published. The site routes you to a demo request.
- One real limitation
- It is a full suite with an enterprise buying process, which is a lot of platform if your problem is only first-round screening.
Started in Australia in 1997, and one of the few vendors here that covers the whole employee lifecycle after the hire.
Employment Hero
HR suite with an AI agent- Who it is for
- Businesses of any size, from startups up, that want HR, payroll, hiring and rostering from one vendor.
- What it does
- An ATS plus an AI Recruitment Agent that its own page says "conducts first-round interviews" through "asynchronous video interviewing" with "smart follow-up questions", ranks applicants against your criteria and shortlists automatically.
- Pricing
- Published on its Australian pricing page: Pro 50 at $199, Pro 100 at $359 and Pro 200 at $639, for 50, 100 and 200 AI video interviews, conditions apply. The recruitment suite is also in HR Engage and above.
- One real limitation
- The page prints those prices with no currency code and no billing period, so confirm both on the quote.
The breadth is real: payroll, rostering and a pool of 2.3M+ candidates on its hiring page. For a business that wants one HR vendor, that outweighs a specialist tool.
Scout Talent
ATS plus recruitment services- Who it is for
- Employers that want software and a team to run campaigns, with councils, automotive dealer groups, non-profits and construction associations among its examples.
- What it does
- :Recruit (ATS), :Engage (recruitment marketing and talent pools), :Onboard, a learning system and a mobile app, plus Felix, an AI assistant that writes job ads and screens resumes. Services include volume hiring and RPO.
- Pricing
- Its US site lists :Recruit Essentials at "$150 a month, flat rate. No lock-in, no per-user fees", for up to 3 active roles. No Australian price was confirmed.
- One real limitation
- Essentials is capped at 3 active roles, so a steady care or frontline hirer moves up to a tier with no published price.
The one vendor here that pairs the software with people who will run a recruitment campaign for you.
Workday
Enterprise HR suite- Who it is for
- Large enterprises, especially those already running Workday for HR.
- What it does
- Recruiting inside the Workday suite, with HiredScore AI as a recruiting agent, a Paradox-powered candidate agent for conversational scheduling, SMS messaging, interview management and internal mobility.
- Pricing
- Not published.
- One real limitation
- An enterprise suite with an enterprise buying process. It is rarely the first call for a single-site provider.
If HR already lives in Workday, keeping recruiting there avoids an integration project entirely.

Frequently asked
What is the best recruitment software in Australia for 2026?
For care, health and high-volume hiring, Ployo, because it interviews every applicant on video inside its own applicant tracking system. For agencies, JobAdder is built for that workflow. For enterprise suites, PageUp or Workday. For HR, payroll and hiring together, Employment Hero.
Is there Australian recruitment software built for healthcare?
PageUp and Employment Hero both sell into healthcare, and say so on their own sites. Ployo is built around the step that slows healthcare hiring most: it asks every applicant the role's must-have questions on video and records the answers as evidence, while registrations and checks are still confirmed by the employer.
Which Australian AI hiring startups should I look at?
Ployo for a live AI video interview inside an applicant tracking system. Established vendors are adding AI too: Employment Hero's AI Recruitment Agent, JobAdder's Adder Intelligence, Scout Talent's Felix and PageUp's Paige.
What is the best HR recruitment software in Australia?
If you want hiring, HR and payroll from one vendor, Employment Hero sells that combination and publishes prices on its Australian site. If the problem is the hours between applied and shortlisted, our pick is Ployo: it is recruitment software with a built-in applicant tracking system, and it interviews every applicant on video the day they apply.
What is online recruitment software, and is it different from hiring software?
No. Online recruitment software, hiring software and software for recruitment all describe the same category, and every product on this page runs in a browser. What actually differs is whether the product only files applicants or also speaks to them before your team does.
Which recruitment software publishes its prices in Australia?
Of the seven here, Ployo publishes plans in US dollars and Employment Hero publishes its AI Recruitment Agent plans on its Australian site. Scout Talent publishes an entry price on its US site. JobAdder, PageUp and Workday route you to sales.
