The best Paradox alternatives, and what each one actually replaces
Updated September 2026
Paradox's assistant Olivia screens for minimum qualifications, books interviews and answers candidate questions over chat and SMS, and since 1 October 2025 it has been part of Workday. People searching for an alternative usually want one of two things: the same kind of assistant without the Workday tie, or something that goes past qualifying and scheduling and actually interviews the candidate. Ployo is the second kind. Ployo is recruitment software with a built-in applicant tracking system and an AI video interviewer that interviews every applicant the day they apply. Every competitor fact below comes from that vendor's own site, checked on 10 September 2026.
The best Paradox alternative depends on what you wanted from Paradox. If you want an interview rather than an assistant, Ployo is our recommendation: Sarah, Ployo's AI interviewer, runs a live two-way video interview with every applicant the day they apply, and your team gets a Met or Not Met verdict on each must-have with the candidate's own words quoted, inside a built-in applicant tracking system, from US$249 a month. If you want the same chat, SMS and scheduling assistant without Workday, Humanly and Fountain are the closest like-for-like options for frontline hiring. If you want recorded video at scale plus a voice AI interviewer from one vendor, HireVue. And if you already run Workday and your problem is scheduling, staying with Paradox is often the right call.

Choose Paradox (Olivia) if
- You run Workday. Workday now presents Paradox as the Candidate Experience agent inside its recruiting suite, so there is no separate vendor, contract or integration to maintain.
- Your bottleneck is scheduling. Paradox's healthcare customers report a 97% cut in interview scheduling time at Essentia Health, and 60% of Houston Methodist's scheduled interviews arriving through after-hours engagement. Ployo does not book human interviews into calendars.
- Your applicants live on SMS. Paradox engages over text and chat around the clock. Ployo does not send SMS or WhatsApp.
- You want onboarding in the same assistant. Paradox lists onboarding automation for healthcare employers; Ployo stops at the hire.
Choose Ployo if
- Your problem is deciding, not booking. When two hundred applicants clear the minimum qualifications, a faster calendar only gets you to the same crowded shortlist sooner. Ployo interviews all of them, so the shortlist is built on what people actually said.
- You want the interview itself, not the invitation to one. Sarah, Ployo's AI interviewer, runs a live two-way video interview the day someone applies, adapts follow-up questions to their answers, and works in 23 languages at any hour, so a carer can do it at 10pm after a shift.
- You need evidence a manager can check. Every must-have gets a Met or Not Met verdict with the candidate's own words quoted, good-to-have gaps show as red flags, and the recording and transcript stay on the record.
- You want the tracker and the interviewer in one place without buying Workday. Ployo's built-in applicant tracking system covers job links, bulk CV upload, CV matching against must-haves, stages from Pending to Hired, bulk moves with undo, a review board, team roles and an activity log.
- You want a person to make every call. Ployo's automation only moves candidates forward, per job. Ployo never auto-rejects anyone.
- You want to see the price first. Ployo publishes US dollar plans from $249 a month with interviews included and no per-seat charge; Paradox does not publish pricing.
Candidates ranked by what they actually proved

The alternatives, and who each one suits
Ordered by the kind of buyer they fit, not by preference. Several of these are a better choice than Ployo for a given team, and the note says which.
Recruitment software with a built-in applicant tracking system and an AI video interviewer, Sarah, who interviews every applicant live on video the day they apply.
Best for: Teams whose problem is telling qualified applicants apart, not booking them, and who want a checkable verdict on every must-have without an enterprise rollout. Not the pick if you need SMS outreach or calendar scheduling of human interviews.
AI recruiting software for hourly, frontline and high-volume teams: engagement over SMS, email and chat, screening, scheduling, and AI interviews by chat, voice and video.
Best for: A frontline or healthcare employer that wants a Paradox-style assistant with its own AI interviews and is not on Workday. Names Reid Health, Trinity Health and Addus Homecare as customers.
An agentic operating system for the frontline workforce: ATS, CRM, sourcing, onboarding and shift scheduling, with AI agents including Anna, an AI recruiter.
Best for: A multi-location frontline employer that wants hiring, onboarding and shift scheduling in one platform rather than an assistant bolted onto an ATS.
On-demand and live video interviewing, assessments and scheduling, plus a voice-based AI Interviewer built from its March 2026 Hireguide acquisition.
Best for: A large employer that wants recorded video interviews, assessments and a voice AI interviewer from one enterprise vendor.
Why people look for a Paradox alternative in 2026
Three reasons come up. The first is ownership. Workday completed its acquisition of Paradox on 1 October 2025 and now presents it as the Candidate Experience agent inside its recruiting suite, next to a Recruiting Agent powered by HiredScore. For a Workday customer that is good news. For a team on another system, it is a fair question where the roadmap will point.
The second is scope. Paradox describes Olivia as doing the work talent teams do not have time for: screening for minimum qualifications, scheduling interviews and answering common questions. That is valuable, and it is logistics. Teams that bought it hoping it would tell them who to hire often find the shortlist problem is still there, reached faster.
The third is price visibility. Paradox does not publish pricing, so comparing it means a sales process. Ployo publishes its prices, and so do some of the tools on our other comparison pages.
The same answer, two formats
A first round is worth what it can find out. Both of these are real screening formats and both work; they differ in what happens after the candidate stops talking.
Typed answer
“One of our residents kept trying to leave at night. I sat with her, worked out she was looking for her husband, and changed her evening routine.”
Submitted, scored, and the interview moves to the next question. Written in private, at the candidate’s own pace, with every tab on their machine available to them.
Spoken answer
“One of our residents kept trying to leave at night. I sat with her, worked out she was looking for her husband, and changed her evening routine.”
And then, unscripted
“You changed the routine. Who signed that off, and what did you write in the notes?”
That second question did not exist until she gave the first answer. It is the one that separates a story a candidate can tell from a shift they actually ran.
If you want an interview, not an assistant: Ployo
Ployo is recruitment software with a built-in applicant tracking system and an AI video interviewer that interviews every applicant the day they apply. Candidates apply through a job link, you upload CVs in bulk, or Ployo pulls applications from a Gmail inbox, including LinkedIn Easy Apply emails. A repeat application to the same role is caught. Each CV is checked against the role's must-haves and good-to-haves, quoting the line from the CV behind each one.
Then Sarah, Ployo's AI interviewer, invites the candidate straight away. They book a slot or start now, reminders go out on their own, and the interview is a live two-way video conversation that follows up on what they actually said. Your team gets a Met or Not Met verdict decided on the must-haves only, with the verbatim quote behind each requirement, plus the recording and transcript. A person moves every candidate on.
It costs $249 a month on Essential with 60 interviews included, $850 on Growth with 250, and $2,135 on Scale with 800, in US dollars, with no per-seat charge. Buying starts with a call to the founder, and ployo.ai/sample shows a real interview without signing up.
If you want the same kind of assistant without Workday: Humanly or Fountain
Humanly describes itself as AI recruiting software for hourly, frontline and high-volume teams. It engages applicants over SMS, email and chat, screens, schedules interviews, and runs AI interviews by chat, voice and video. It names Reid Health, Trinity Health and Addus Homecare among its healthcare customers. Pricing is not published.
Fountain calls itself an agentic operating system for the frontline workforce: an applicant tracking system, CRM, sourcing, onboarding, and shift and scheduling in one platform, with AI agents including Anna, an AI recruiter that screens candidates. It does not publish pricing; its pricing page is a demo form.
Both are closer to Paradox in shape than Ployo is. If your need is response speed and scheduling across many locations, start with them.
If you want video at enterprise scale: HireVue
HireVue offers on-demand recorded video interviews, live video interviews, assessments and interview scheduling. In March 2026 it acquired the technology behind Hireguide to build a voice-based AI Interviewer, which it describes as a natural two-way voice conversation that runs 24/7 and integrates with 45+ ATSs. Its homepage lists 40+ languages. Pricing is named Essential and Premium, with no figures published.

When staying with Paradox is the right answer
If you run Workday and your problem is response time and scheduling, Paradox is now the path of least resistance, and its healthcare scheduling results are strong. Adding Ployo behind it is also a sensible design: let the assistant handle instant replies and logistics, and let Sarah do the interview with everyone who clears the minimum bar. Ployo does not schedule human or panel interviews or send SMS, so the two overlap very little.
Olivia is built to get candidates to an interview quickly. Ployo is the interview, and the record of it. If your Paradox rollout fixed response times but left your team with a pile of qualified applicants nobody has heard speak, the fix is not a different chat assistant. It is a first round that talks to every applicant and shows you why each one met the bar or did not.
Paradox (Olivia) is a layer 5 tool: conversational ai screening (chat). An AI screens the candidate by text chat, often over SMS or a web widget. See how the six layers of first-round screening fit together →
Frequently asked
What are the best Paradox alternatives?
For teams that want an actual interview with every applicant, Ployo: recruitment software with a built-in applicant tracking system and an AI video interviewer, from US$249 a month. For a like-for-like chat and scheduling assistant outside Workday, Humanly or Fountain. For recorded video plus a voice AI interviewer, HireVue.
Is Paradox still independent?
No. Workday completed its acquisition of Paradox on 1 October 2025, and Workday's recruiting page now presents a Candidate Experience agent powered by Paradox alongside a Recruiting Agent powered by HiredScore.
How much does Paradox cost?
Paradox does not publish pricing. Ployo publishes plans in US dollars: Essential at $249 a month with 60 interviews, Growth at $850 with 250 and Scale at $2,135 with 800, with no per-seat charge.
Can Ployo replace Paradox for scheduling?
No. Ployo books its own AI interviews, where the candidate picks a slot or starts now and reminders go out automatically, but it does not schedule human or panel interviews into calendars and it does not send SMS. If scheduling is your main problem, keep a scheduling assistant and add Ployo for the interview.
Does Paradox work for healthcare hiring?
Yes. Paradox's healthcare page names Houston Methodist, Essentia Health, MultiCare, Christus Health and UnitingCare among its customers, with results focused on scheduling time and cost per hire. Ployo is used on care and healthcare roles too, where Sarah, Ployo's AI interviewer, asks about must-haves such as shift availability and registration on video. Confirming a registration with the issuing body stays with the employer.

Most of what decides this is your own role, not the feature grid. Worked examples of AI screening applied to specific sectors are on the solutions pages, and the practical how-to side, including what compliance actually requires before someone starts a shift, is in the hiring guides.
If you would rather see the mechanics than read about them, the AI video interviewer page walks through an interview end to end.
