Ployo vs Humanly: multi-channel platform or live interview?

Updated August 2026

Humanly spent most of 2025 turning itself from a chat screener into a full hiring platform: it acquired Sprockets, Qualifi and HourWork in a single announcement on 14 October 2025, then raised a $25M Series B around May 2026 led by SEEK Investments. If you are comparing it to Ployo, you are weighing a wide, recently assembled platform spanning engagement, screening, retention and onboarding against a single, deep product built around one live conversation. Both are real strategies. They suit different buyers.

The short answer

Humanly is the better choice if you want one vendor covering the whole hourly-hiring funnel, engagement, screening, scheduling, and now retention and onboarding through the acquired Sprockets and HourWork products, especially if you already run one of its nine named ATS integrations. It is the broadest platform researched in this layer and it is freshly capitalised to build it out further. Ployo is the better choice if what you actually need is one thing done well: a live, adaptive conversation with every applicant that a hiring manager can watch back. The honest summary is that Humanly is betting on breadth assembled quickly through acquisition, and Ployo is betting on depth in a single interview. If your bottleneck is coordinating five disconnected point tools, Humanly's story is compelling. If your bottleneck is that nobody has time to actually talk to four hundred applicants, that is the problem Ployo was built to solve.

The alternative
Humanly

A conversational AI hiring platform for hourly, frontline and high-volume roles, built by folding three 2025 acquisitions (Sprockets, Qualifi, HourWork) into one system spanning chat, SMS, voice and video.

Format
Multi-channel: chat and SMS by default, plus automated phone and voice screening added through the October 2025 Qualifi acquisition, plus video for structured async interviews. Humanly's own language describes the voice channel as maintaining 'a human touch through pre-recorded voice messages' rather than a live conversation. No evidence found of a live, real-time AI interviewer comparable to Ployo's.
Based
Seattle, Washington, with a co-headquarters in Sacramento, California
Pricing
Not published on Humanly's own pages. A third-party review (Hirevire, not a Humanly figure) estimates roughly $4 to $8 per candidate screened at a volume of 500 candidates a month.

Choose Humanly if

  • You want one vendor across the whole hourly-hiring funnel. After the October 2025 rollup, Humanly covers engagement, chat and SMS screening, automated voice screening, async video interviews, and now retention and onboarding through the acquired Sprockets and HourWork products. That is a genuinely wider net than a single-purpose interview tool casts.
  • You already run one of its nine named ATS or HCM systems: Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Dayforce, Employ, UKG, Oracle Taleo, iCIMS, Greenhouse or Avature. That is deep, named enterprise plumbing most standalone interview vendors have not built.
  • You are hiring hourly and frontline roles across retail, hospitality, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics or QSR, which is exactly the customer base its named case studies (Fazoli's, MGM Resorts, Cellular Sales, Reid Health, Trinity Health) reflect.
  • You want a vendor with fresh capital behind it. A $25M Series B led by SEEK Investments, with MassMutual Catalyst Fund and existing investors Drive Capital and Zeal Capital Partners participating, signals continued product investment rather than a company running out the clock.
  • Your candidates are comfortable answering by phone or text and never expect to be on camera at all. Humanly's chat, SMS and voice channels meet that expectation directly; only its async video channel puts a candidate on camera, and even that is not a live conversation.

Choose Ployo if

  • The interview itself is live and adaptive, not pre-recorded or asynchronous. Humanly's own language describes its voice channel as pre-recorded voice messages and its video channel as structured async interviews; this research found no evidence of a live, real-time AI interviewer inside the platform. Ployo's entire product is that live conversation: the AI listens to what the candidate actually says and generates the next question from it, rather than stepping through a fixed sequence of prompts or messages.
  • You get back something a hiring manager can check. Humanly's own pages describe engagement and time-to-hire metrics, but this research could not find a specific, named output artifact, a score, a transcript, a recording, that a hiring team receives per candidate. Ployo returns a per-requirement verdict with the candidate's own words quoted as evidence, plus the full video recording and transcript, so a disagreement about a shortlist decision is a two-minute rewatch, not a debate about whether to trust the platform.
  • The three-way acquisition is genuinely very recent, and that is worth weighing on its own terms rather than glossing over. Sprockets, Qualifi and HourWork were folded into one platform on 14 October 2025, ten months before this comparison was written, and this research could not find a single post-merger customer case study confirming the combined chat-to-voice-to-video-to-retention flow works end to end today. That may resolve cleanly. It has not yet been demonstrated publicly, and a buyer evaluating it now is evaluating a promise about integration as much as a shipped product.
  • The role needs to be heard, not just messaged or called through a script. For aged care, disability support, nursing and any frontline role where communication with a distressed or vulnerable person is the actual job, watching and hearing how someone answers an unscripted follow-up tells you something a chat log, an SMS thread or a pre-recorded voice message cannot.
  • There is no volume floor and no implementation project. Ployo is commonly run on a single role with a few hundred applicants, set up on a call with the founder, rather than procured as a platform migration across five acquired products with their own histories, data models and support teams to reconcile.

What "multi-channel" actually means here

Humanly's pitch is coverage: chat, SMS, automated voice and asynchronous video, all under one platform, so a candidate can be reached however they prefer to respond. That is a real and useful idea, and after the Qualifi acquisition it genuinely does more than the pure text-and-SMS tools in this same layer.

But it is worth being precise about what each channel does, because "voice and video" reads as more than it is. Humanly's own language describes maintaining a human touch through pre-recorded voice messages, and its video product is for structured async interviews, meaning a candidate records answers alone, with nobody listening or watching in real time. This research found no evidence of a live, two-way spoken AI interview anywhere in the platform.

That matters because a pre-recorded answer and a live one are different instruments. A pre-recorded voice message cannot ask a genuine follow-up, because nothing is listening while the candidate is speaking. Ployo's interview is live throughout: the AI generates its next question from what the candidate just said, which is the one thing none of Humanly's channels, as described in its own materials, appear to do.

Three acquisitions in one announcement, and what that means for a buyer today

On 14 October 2025, Humanly announced it had acquired Sprockets, Qualifi and HourWork in a single move, described in its own press release as building an end-to-end conversational AI hiring platform. Qualifi brought the automated voice and phone screening; Sprockets and HourWork appear aimed at retention and onboarding, extending the platform past the first round into what happens after someone is hired.

That is an ambitious and coherent strategy on paper. It is also, at ten months old as of this comparison, genuinely new. This research looked for a post-merger case study, something demonstrating a candidate moving from chat engagement through voice screening into a video interview and out the other side into onboarding, on the combined platform, and did not find one published. That is not evidence the integration has failed. It is an observation that the combined flow has not yet been shown working end to end in public, and a buyer signing up today is buying into that integration completing on schedule.

The $25M Series B, led by SEEK Investments with MassMutual Catalyst Fund and existing investors Drive Capital and Zeal Capital Partners participating, landed roughly seven months after the acquisitions, which reads as continued investor confidence in the roll-up rather than a company treading water. Worth noting alongside the integration question, not instead of it.

What you get back, and what is not published

Humanly's homepage leads with outcome metrics: 8x faster time-to-hire, 20-plus recruiter hours saved weekly, a 4.8-out-of-5 candidate experience score, and a G2 rating cited at 4.8 out of 5 from over 100 reviews. Those are Humanly's own claimed figures rather than independently reconfirmed by this research, and none of them describe the specific artifact a hiring manager receives for an individual candidate: what a chat transcript, a voice-screening summary or a video-interview review actually looks like once it lands in a recruiter's queue.

Ployo's output is deliberately narrow and specific: a verdict against each requirement you set, with the exact words the candidate used quoted as the evidence for it, plus the full recording and transcript. It is a smaller claim than "8x faster," and it is built to be checked rather than trusted.

Bias and fairness: neither of us has published research

Unlike Sapia.ai, which commissioned an independent disparate-impact audit and publishes a named research group, this research found no bias-audit, adverse-impact or academic-validation claim on Humanly's pages or in search results. Ployo has not commissioned an equivalent third-party audit either, and does not claim one.

On this specific question the two products are in the same position: neither has outside evidence to point to. If an independent audit is a hard requirement for your compliance function, Sapia.ai currently has one and neither Humanly nor Ployo does.

Who each is actually built for

Humanly's named customers, Fazoli's Restaurants, MGM Resorts, Cellular Sales, POOLCORP, DK Security, HomeTeam Pest Defense, Reid Health, Trinity Health and Mutual of Omaha, sit squarely in US hourly, frontline and corporate TA hiring, and its nine named ATS integrations point at buyers who already run a large enterprise HR stack and want one more system plugged into it.

Ployo's own proof point is narrower and more recent: production use on Australian care and healthcare hiring, where the first-round interview itself, not the surrounding chat and scheduling logistics, is the actual bottleneck. If your problem is genuinely coordinating five disconnected tools across a frontline funnel, Humanly's consolidation is the stronger fit. If your problem is that too many applicants clear the basic checks and nobody has time to talk to them properly, a platform built around messaging and pre-recorded prompts does not close that gap by adding more channels to it.

The actual difference

Humanly bought breadth in October 2025 and is still proving it stitches together. Ployo has only ever built one thing: a live conversation with every applicant that a hiring manager can watch back and check. If your problem is five disconnected point tools across the frontline funnel, Humanly's consolidation story is the more compelling one. If your problem is that nobody has time to genuinely talk to the people who apply, that is the problem the live interview was built to solve, and it is the one piece Humanly's own materials do not describe having.

Where this sits

Humanly is a layer 5 tool: conversational ai screening (chat). An AI screens the candidate by text chat, often over SMS or a web widget. See how the six layers of first-round screening fit together →

Frequently asked

Did Humanly acquire other companies?

Yes. Humanly announced on 14 October 2025 that it had acquired three companies, Sprockets, Qualifi and HourWork, in a single move described in its own press release as building an end-to-end conversational AI hiring platform. Deal terms were not disclosed.

Does Humanly do live AI video interviews?

Not in the sense Ployo does. Humanly's own materials describe its voice channel (added through the Qualifi acquisition) as pre-recorded voice messages, and its video channel as structured async interviews, meaning the candidate records alone. This research found no evidence of a live, real-time, two-way AI interview inside the platform.

How much does Humanly cost?

Humanly does not publish pricing on its own site. A third-party review by Hirevire, not a Humanly figure, estimates roughly $4 to $8 per candidate screened at a volume of 500 candidates a month; treat that as an outside estimate, not a quoted rate. Ployo does not publish a price list either; packaging is scoped directly with the founder.

How much funding has Humanly raised?

Humanly raised a $25M Series B around May 2026, led by SEEK Investments with MassMutual Catalyst Fund and existing investors Drive Capital and Zeal Capital Partners participating. Prior rounds included a $4.2M seed and a $12M round in June 2023. A primary-source total across all rounds was not found in this research.

Is Humanly's combined platform proven to work end to end?

Not yet demonstrated publicly, as far as this research could find. The Sprockets, Qualifi and HourWork acquisitions closed on 14 October 2025, and no post-merger customer case study confirming the combined chat-to-voice-to-video-to-retention flow was found published at the time this comparison was written. That is an observation about public evidence, not a claim that the integration has failed.

If you are past comparing

Most of what decides this is your own role, not the feature grid. Worked examples of AI screening applied to specific sectors are on the solutions pages, and the practical how-to side, including what compliance actually requires before someone starts a shift, is in the hiring guides.

If you would rather see the mechanics than read about them, the AI video interviewer page walks through an interview end to end.
