Workday Recruiting alternatives for healthcare employers
Updated September 2026
Workday Recruiting is part of Workday's HCM suite, and in 2026 it ships with two AI agents: a Recruiting Agent powered by HiredScore and a Candidate Experience agent powered by Paradox. For a health system already on Workday HCM it is the natural choice. For a hospital, clinic or care provider that is not, or that finds the suite heavy for frontline hiring, the alternatives split into enterprise ATS platforms, healthcare-specific systems and lighter tools. Ployo is the lighter, interview-first option. Ployo is recruitment software with a built-in applicant tracking system and an AI video interviewer that interviews every applicant the day they apply.
If your health system runs Workday HCM, Workday Recruiting is usually the right recruiting system, because one vendor, one data model and one security review beat a longer feature list. If you are choosing without that tie, iCIMS and symplr Recruiting are the healthcare-heavy enterprise choices, SmartRecruiters fits SAP shops, and Greenhouse suits teams that want structured hiring with AI kept advisory. For care providers and clinics whose problem is volume at the front of the funnel, Ployo is our recommendation: an applicant tracking system with Sarah, Ployo's AI interviewer, built in, so every applicant is interviewed on video the day they apply and your team decides from a Met or Not Met verdict with the evidence attached, from US$249 a month, without an HCM rollout.
The recruiting and talent acquisition part of Workday's HCM suite, with a HiredScore Recruiting Agent, a Paradox Candidate Experience agent, SMS messaging, interview scheduling, career sites and internal mobility.

Choose Workday Recruiting if
- You run Workday HCM. Recruiting, internal mobility and the rest of the employee record live in one system, with no sync between an ATS and your HR system to maintain.
- You hire at health-system scale across many requisition types. Workday lists evergreen requisitions, bulk offer processing, candidate marketing campaigns and career sites, and was named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Talent Acquisition Suites.
- Internal mobility matters as much as external hiring. HiredScore rediscovers candidates in your existing databases, and Workday reports 70% role coverage from existing talent pools on its HiredScore page.
- You want chat and scheduling from the same vendor. The Paradox agent is now part of Workday's recruiting suite.
Choose Ployo if
- You are not on Workday HCM, and buying a suite to get a recruiting module is out of proportion for a care provider, clinic group or home care operator.
- Your first round is the bottleneck, not your system of record. Grading applications still leaves someone to call the survivors. Sarah, Ployo's AI interviewer, interviews every applicant on video the day they apply, in 23 languages, at any hour, and asks follow-ups on what they said.
- You want a shortlist a nurse unit manager can check. Ployo decides Met or Not Met on the must-haves only, quotes the candidate's words behind each requirement, flags good-to-have gaps as red flags, and keeps the recording and transcript.
- You want a tracker your team can use this week. Job link applications, bulk CV upload, CV matching against must-haves, stages from Pending to Hired with bulk moves and undo, a drag-and-drop review board, owner, admin and member roles, and an activity log.
- You want to know the cost before a sales cycle. Ployo publishes US dollar plans from $249 a month with interviews included and no per-seat charge. Workday does not publish pricing.
- You want a person to make every call. Ployo's automation only advances candidates, and Ployo never auto-rejects anyone.

The alternatives, and who each one suits
Ordered by the kind of buyer they fit, not by preference. Several of these are a better choice than Ployo for a given team, and the note says which.
Recruitment software with a built-in applicant tracking system and an AI video interviewer, Sarah, who interviews every applicant live on video the day they apply.
Best for: A care provider, clinic group or home care operator hiring frontline and clinical staff at volume, not on Workday HCM, that wants every applicant interviewed and a checkable verdict. Not a replacement for offers, onboarding or HR records.
Enterprise talent acquisition software with Coalesce AI, text engagement, video interviews and career sites, used by 4,400+ companies.
Best for: A large hospital system that wants an enterprise ATS with named healthcare references, without committing to a full HCM suite.
An applicant tracking system designed specifically for hospitals and health systems, with texting, scheduling and secure video interviews. HealthcareSource is now part of symplr.
Best for: A hospital or health system that wants a healthcare-only ATS inside a wider healthcare workforce and talent management suite.
An enterprise hiring platform with Winston AI, now part of SAP SuccessFactors.
Best for: A healthcare organization that runs SAP SuccessFactors and wants recruiting natively integrated with it.
A structured-hiring ATS whose published AI principles keep AI advisory and humans as the final decision-makers.
Best for: A healthcare employer hiring corporate and professional roles that wants structured interviews and AI that never makes the decision.
What Workday Recruiting includes in 2026
Workday's talent acquisition page describes AI-powered hiring built around two agents. The Recruiting Agent is powered by HiredScore, which Workday says grades candidates, surfaces likely-to-apply leads from existing databases and partner networks, and reports a 54% increase in recruiter capacity within ten months of launch. The Candidate Experience agent is powered by Paradox, whose acquisition Workday completed on 1 October 2025. Around them sit SMS messaging and interview management, career sites, evergreen requisitions, bulk offer processing and internal mobility.
HiredScore's page says it is integrated with Workday Recruiting. For a health system on Workday HCM, that coherence is the main argument. For anyone else, it is the main cost.
The same answer, two formats
A first round is worth what it can find out. Both of these are real screening formats and both work; they differ in what happens after the candidate stops talking.
Typed answer
“One of our residents kept trying to leave at night. I sat with her, worked out she was looking for her husband, and changed her evening routine.”
Submitted, scored, and the interview moves to the next question. Written in private, at the candidate’s own pace, with every tab on their machine available to them.
Spoken answer
“One of our residents kept trying to leave at night. I sat with her, worked out she was looking for her husband, and changed her evening routine.”
And then, unscripted
“You changed the routine. Who signed that off, and what did you write in the notes?”
That second question did not exist until she gave the first answer. It is the one that separates a story a candidate can tell from a shift they actually ran.
For healthcare teams whose problem is the first round: Ployo
Ployo is recruitment software with a built-in applicant tracking system and an AI video interviewer that interviews every applicant the day they apply. It is built for the step between applied and shortlisted, which is where frontline healthcare hiring stalls: a registration held, shift availability, a driver's licence, hands-on experience with personal care or dementia. A CV rarely proves those, and a recruiter with a phone cannot ask two hundred people.
Sarah, Ployo's AI interviewer, asks every applicant the role's must-have questions in a live two-way video interview, in 23 languages, and follows up on what they said. The verdict is Met or Not Met on the must-haves, with the verbatim quote behind each one, and the recording and transcript sit on the candidate record. Your team moves candidates through Pending, Shortlisted, On hold, Invited for AI interview, Shortlisted for human interview and Hired, and a person makes every decision.
Ployo does not post to job boards, send offers, run onboarding, verify registrations with the issuing body or book panel interviews into calendars. Plans start at $249 a month in US dollars with 60 interviews included, and buying starts with a call to the founder.
Enterprise ATS platforms with healthcare depth: iCIMS and symplr
iCIMS describes enterprise-grade talent acquisition software with AI, used by more than 4,400 companies across 200 countries and a quarter of the Fortune 500. Its hospital and healthcare page covers career sites, text engagement, video interviews and AI matching, and names Hackensack Meridian Health, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Acadia Healthcare among its customers. It does not publish pricing.
symplr Recruiting is an applicant tracking system designed specifically for hospitals and health systems, with texting, interview scheduling, calendar invites and secure video interviews from one platform. HealthcareSource is now part of symplr. It names White Plains Hospital, TidalHealth and CaroMont Health among its customers, and prices by organization size, hiring volume and scope.
If you run SAP, or want AI kept advisory: SmartRecruiters and Greenhouse
SmartRecruiters is now part of SAP SuccessFactors, with an AI layer called Winston, and says it serves 4,000 companies. Its pricing page lists an Essential plan starting at $14,995 and Professional, High Volume and Complete plans on request.
Greenhouse sells Core, Plus and Pro plans with customized pricing. Its AI principles say AI and automation can inform, summarize and surface insight, but are never the final decision-maker, which suits teams that want every decision to have a named human owner.

Can you keep Workday and add Ployo?
Yes. Some teams keep Workday as the system of record and use Ployo for the front of the funnel on high-volume roles such as care workers, patient services and support staff. How Ployo's results reach another system is set up with each customer, so the design is agreed on the demo rather than assumed.
Workday Recruiting is a system of record that grades applications and coordinates candidates. Ployo is a first round that talks to every applicant and hands your team the evidence. For a health system on Workday HCM the first matters more; for a provider buried in frontline applications, the second is the gap.
Workday Recruiting is a layer 0 tool: the ats knockout and resume screen. Software reads the application and rejects most of them before any person is involved. See how the six layers of first-round screening fit together →
Frequently asked
What are the best Workday Recruiting alternatives for healthcare?
For hospitals and health systems that want an enterprise ATS, iCIMS and symplr Recruiting both sell specifically into healthcare, SmartRecruiters fits SAP shops and Greenhouse suits structured hiring. For care providers and clinics whose bottleneck is screening volume, Ployo combines an applicant tracking system with an AI video interviewer and publishes pricing from US$249 a month.
Does Workday Recruiting include AI?
Yes. Workday's talent acquisition page lists a Recruiting Agent powered by HiredScore and a Candidate Experience agent powered by Paradox, which Workday acquired on 1 October 2025.
Is Ployo a full HR system like Workday?
No. Ployo covers recruiting from application to hire: intake, CV matching, the AI video interview, the verdict and candidate stages. It does not do offer letters, onboarding, payroll or HR records.
How much does Workday Recruiting cost?
Workday does not publish pricing. Ployo publishes plans in US dollars: Essential $249 a month for 60 interviews, Growth $850 for 250 and Scale $2,135 for 800, with no per-seat charge.
What does Ployo check for a nursing or care role?
Each role's must-haves, such as a registration held, shift availability, a driver's licence or dementia care experience. Sarah, Ployo's AI interviewer, asks about each one and records a Met or Not Met verdict with the candidate's words quoted. Verifying a registration with the issuing body stays with the employer.

Most of what decides this is your own role, not the feature grid. Worked examples of AI screening applied to specific sectors are on the solutions pages, and the practical how-to side, including what compliance actually requires before someone starts a shift, is in the hiring guides.
If you would rather see the mechanics than read about them, the AI video interviewer page walks through an interview end to end.
